Fiji Family Holiday Accommodation Guide

Fiji has been a favourite family holiday destination for many years, especially for Australians and New Zealanders as the islands are easy to access. Today, new budget flight options created by Pacific Blue (Virgin) and Freedom Airlines means that taking the family to Fiji is easier and more affordable than ever!

Family holidays in Fiji - popular destination areas.

  • Coral Coast Fiji is a long-time favourite with families with all-inclusive resort hotels. Only an hour or so drive from Fiji's International Airport at Nadi. Lots of activities, on-site restaurants, and most have kids clubs to keep the kids entertained and allow parents a chance for some adult-time during the holiday.
  • At the southern end of the Coral Coast is Pacific Harbour. With two large hotels and a range of other accommodation, there is sure to be something suitable for your next family getaway in Fiji. Cultural centre, long sandy beach, river trips, fishing, diving, river rafting, day trips to Coral Coast and down to Suva.
  • In and around Nadi is also popular with modestly-priced family options by Nadi Bay, or further around at First Landing Resort and Anchorage Resort.
  • Denarau Island at Nadi has world-famous brand hotel resorts such as Sheraton, Sofitel, Westin, Hilton World Mark Trendwest and Radisson for those looking for a more luxurious family vacation.
  • Other places to stay on the main island include the northern sunshine coast (Wananavu Resort has family accommodation) and the offshore resort island of Nananu-i-Ra.
  • One cannot look past some idyllic islands family beachfront accommodation - the Mamanucas are easily accessible by ferry or light aircraft out of Nadi. The Yasawa islands are only slightly further out and there is an excellent catamaran ferry service to a range of budget-priced resorts. Not so many kids clubs as at the large mainland resorts and hotels, but the Fijian staff love children and vice versa! There is always lots to learn and lots to do.
  • For more adventure activities and wonderful family holidays together, don't forget other parts of Fiji such as the ever popular Taveuni, Savusavu (on Vanua Levu), Kadavu, and a whole range of other small island destinations.
  • In addition to resorts and hotels, Fiji has a wide range of self-catering homes and villa options. This provides more space and flexibility, and is often cheaper than booking hotel rooms. Saves heaps on food costs, and if you want to eat out there's usually a restaurant or two close by!

Family Holiday Packages and Specials
Many resorts, hotels, homes and villas have special deals for families visiting Fiji. Most places offer free accommodation for younger children (up to 11 or 12 years) if they share with the parents. Then rates go to around half-price until reaching 'adult' status. In addition, one can often find Stay 7, Pay 5 deals that can help the holiday budget go further. When it comes to meals, discounted rates usually apply for child meals and there is often a special children's menu to make mealtimes fun and less of a hassle. Babysitting and kids clubs are often at extra cost, or can sometimes be included. Just check around to find what is on offer.
