South Pacific Honeymoons

Honeymoons in the South PacificThe South Pacific Islands is one of the world's top honeymoon vacation destinations. South Pacific honeymoons are enjoyed by wedding couples and honeymooners from around the world who choose this paradise location for their tropical romance destination.

Spanning a vast area of the globe, the various island nations are uniquely different, but all have that famous tropical romantic quality of beaches, lagoons, swaying palms and friendly people welcoming you to their shores.

Travelling from east to west across the South Pacific one finds

  • French Polynesia has hundreds of islands and regions spread over a vast area of ocean. Exotic and beautiful atolls include Bora Bora, Rangiroa and Taha'a are in the Society Islands. There are also other more remote locations such as the Tuamotus. And of course, Tahiti and neighbouring Moorea are famous honeymoon travel destinations.
  • Cook Islands - Rarotonga and the famous Aitutaki Lagoon are the two main destinations here for honeymooners. Rarotonga has many boutique villa style resorts for privacy and style
  • Samoa (formerly Western Samoa) has primarily two main islands, of similar size and joined by a narrow causeway. They are Upolu (the main island) and Savai'i. Samoa is a pefect choice for those wanting somewhere close to the main airport for easy travelling, rather than flying or cruising to remote outer islands.
  • Tonga comprises primarily of three distinct low-lying island groups (there are other islands too) spread over a large region. The northern groups of Vava'u and Ha'apai are particularly popular choices for honeymooners, though the main island of Tongatapu and small offshore islands close by also have honeymoon accommodation.
  • Fiji - So many islands to choose from! ... including the Yasawas, Mamanucas, Taveuni, Qamea, Matangi and Savusavu in the north, Vatulele and Kadavu in the South, Wakaya, Namana, Toberua in the central region, and of course the main island of Viti Levu, which has some great honeymoon spots such as Denarau. Many different honeymoon accommodation options also.
  • Vanuatu has a main island of Efate with many romantic resorts and hotels. Efate is central to the islands of Vanuatu, and flying north to Espiritu Santo or south to Tanna one can find more choices there for romantic spots. Dramatic volcanic activity in some parts of the country. Known for diving, especially wreck-diving.
  • New Caledonia is slightly sub-tropical than tropical, and the main island of Grand Terre, especially around Noumea with its 5-star hotels, is popular. French speaking New Caledonia is more westernised than some of the other South Pacific islands, has plenty of good restaurants and cafes.
There are also several more less populated nations such as Niue, Tuvalu plus Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea in the west.
